Pharmaceutical name: Sertraline Hydrochloride
Pack: 10 pills (50 mg)

Sertima is prescribed for managing major depressive disorder (MDD), addressing obsessions and compulsions in individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and alleviating panic disorder and social anxiety disorder, also referred to as social phobia. It is also utilized for treating premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). The active component in Sertima is Sertraline Hydrochloride.

Sertima should be taken with food once daily. The recommended time for taking Sertima is in the evening alongside the evening meal; however, if preferred in the morning, it can be taken with breakfast.

Do not exceed the prescribed dosage, nor should you use it for longer than instructed by your physician. Occasionally, your doctor may adjust your dosage to ensure optimal effectiveness of the treatment. It can be taken with or without food and with water consistently at the same time every day for at least 4 weeks or more before you may notice improvement.

Do not discontinue Sertima without consulting your doctor first, as stopping suddenly may lead to adverse side effects. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you recall. If it is nearly time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take an extra dose to compensate for the missed one.

Common side effects linked to Sertima usage include gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, diarrhea/loose stools, and dyspepsia; male sexual dysfunction (mainly ejaculatory delay); insomnia and drowsiness; tremors; increased sweating; dry mouth; and dizziness.

If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, such as skin rash or hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, seek emergency medical assistance immediately. Contact your doctor right away if you notice any new or worsening symptoms, including mood or behavioral changes, anxiety, panic attacks, sleep difficulties, or feelings of impulsiveness, irritability, agitation, hostility, aggression, restlessness, hyperactivity (either mental or physical), increased depression, or thoughts of suicide or self-harm.

Sertima is not recommended for individuals who have a hypersensitivity to Sertraline or any of the inactive components found in Sertima tablets.
